CONSTITUTION OF ILORA BAPTIST GRAMMAR SCHOOL OLD STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
INTERPRETATION
In this Constitution, the words standing in the table next hereinafter contained shall bear the meaning set opposite them respectively in the second column thereof if not consistent with the subject or context and, where appropriate, singular shall mean plural whilst masculine shall include feminine.
“The Decree” | The Companies Decree, 1968 and/or any amendment thereof |
“The Constitution” | The constitution of the Old Students’ Association of Ilora Baptist Grammar School |
“The Association” | The Ilora Baptist Grammar School Old Students’ Association |
“The Secretariat” | The registered or recognized office of the Association |
“The School” | Ilora Baptist Grammar School, Idi-Igba Road, Ilora, Oyo State, Nigeria |
“Committee” | Includes Standing Committees of the Association |
“The Seal” | The Common Seal of the Association |
“Officer” | Any holder of any post or position or office as may be designated as an “Officer” from time to time by the Association |
“Month” | Calendar Month |
“Writing” | Includes written, printed or lithographed or partly one and partly another and other modes of representing or reproducing words in a visible form |
“Member” | Anyone who satisfies the condition stated in 3 a) & b) is described as a member of the Association |
“Executive Committee” | Refers to the highest organ of the Association and which comprises of Elected Officers, Branch Chairmen and Officers of the Board of Trustees |
“ Board of Trustees” or “BOT” | Describes the group of elected Trustees of the Association |
“Imprest” | A fund used for small items of expenditure and which is returned to a fixed amount periodically |
NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION
- a) The Association shall be known as “Ilora Baptist Grammar School Old Students’ Association” herein after called the “Association” and abbreviated as IBGSOSA
- b) The colours of the Association shall at all times be the colours of the School uniform which currently are Skye Blue and White.
- c) The Headquarters of Ilora Baptist Grammar School Old Students’ Association shall be at Ilora Baptist Grammar School, Ilora or any other place so designated by the Association.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
- a) To keep alive interest in the well-being of Ilora Baptist Grammar School, here-in referred to as “school”.
- b) To promote social interaction among its members and the School.
- c) To support the School in every possible way.
- d) To promote Ilora Baptist Grammar School spirit among Old Students.
MEMBERSHIP
- An Old Student of Ilora Baptist Grammar School is defined as “Any student who enrolled at Ilora Baptist Grammar School and completed the prescribed certificate courses or spent at least one academic session”.
- Anybody who satisfies this definition is entitled to enroll as a member of the Ilora Baptist Grammar School Old Students’ Association.
- The Principal of the School or his/her representative, who is not an Old Student, shall for the duration of his/her appointment at Ilora Baptist Grammar School be eligible to enroll as an honorary member of the Association.
- Other honorary members shall be sponsored by not less than two members of the Executive Committee. They may include interested spouses of old students and or people with strong affiliation to the school or Ilora community/town.
PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERSHIP
- Privileges of full membership of the Association shall include, but not limited to –
- Eligibility to vote and be voted for in the election of officers of the Association subject to fulfilling laid down conditions
- Eligibility to vote and be voted for in the selection of Trustees of the Association
- Eligibility to vote at all and, every decision of the Association at the Annual General meeting (AGM)
- Participation in all debates at the AGM of the association
- These privileges shall be removed by the association from any member who does not abide by the rules and regulations of the Association.
