The Conditions for the Adopt a Student Scholarship Scheme

The students must pass a qualifying examination to be conducted for the purpose.

Only brilliant, well behaved and indigent students will be enrolled in the scheme.

The sponsor will have the liberty to decide the number of students to be adopted.

The sponsor will also decide whether to commence the sponsorship from JS1 to SS3 or to start from SS1. They can also decide the field of study whether the scholarship will be given to arts, sciences or commercial students or to consider a balance between the fields and gender.

Consideration will be given to students with creative and specific skills.

Sponsors will be allowed to pick appropriate name for the scholarship.

There will be a written agreement between the sponsor and IBGSOSA as represented by APIC.

Separate account will be opened for the scheme and managed by the IBGSOSA EXCO as recommended by APIC.

As much as practicable, the scholarship will not be administered as cash handout to the students. Rather, it will be used to address specific needs such as textbooks, payment for exams such as WAEC, NECO and JAMB.
